This is my second attempt cover. I used different images from iStockphoto and a different color scheme. The golds in Gia's chimpmunk hood look great against a black & grey background. Gia is a fairy, but you can't really tell because there are no wings visible. In the story, she actually hides them from everyone. I think this version makes more of a connection to the book than the blue/brown one.

This has been bugging me for a while. In DOQ, I've been using "earth" animals, like eagles and elephants, but if it is a fantasy novel, should I make up my own animal names? I just think that seems so extreme. I mean, what if elephants are cool and I want to use them? Should I change the name to "bolephantos" or something made up like that? That just seems so cheesy.

I decided not to set a time-line for myself, mainly because I work for myself. After about a week of sudden writer's block, I realized that stepping away isn't always a bad thing.
